Village café and rest stop

A small intervention can create a new place for the village and its visitors – a simple café, a place to rest and a natural starting point into the surrounding countryside.

The design works with a compact building and a simple operation that can run seasonally or all year round. It includes a café, outdoor seating, bicycle stands and a rest area for residents, hikers and cyclists. The place can also serve as a meeting point for walking and cycling trips, where visitors will find refreshments, basic information about the area and a place for a short rest before setting off or after returning.

The timber building and simple landscaping are designed so that the intervention remains in keeping with the scale of the village and its natural setting. The aim is not a large building, but a small place that can come alive every day.
